| In 1996 (really old meesage) Zeromus (zeromus@flash.net) 1996/11/14 said. Have you ever noticed how lousy FAQ's are? Especially some of the more recent giant suckers, like the FF3(a) ones? Or how ridiculous commercial strategy guides/gaming magazines are? Filled with advertisments and illustrations, but a wee bit skimpy on good information? I firmly believe that Square fans deserve more, especially for the upcoming game Final Fantasy VII. Regardless of which system its on (although I'm personally glad its not on N64 and ONE of the reasons why is that nintendo would do what they've done to the past couple of snes rpgs (mangle) and make it out to be, what can only be described as, "hip"). I am going to try something very interesting here with Final Fantasy VII(a). Bear in mind, my ideas are not the Voice Of God, just ideas. What I am trying to do is to organize what can only be called a Strategy Guide for Final Fantasy VII(a). Of course, this won't start much until Final Fantasy Vii(j) is released, but I am trying to get organized now. What I have seen in the past is everyone (understandably) ripping apart at new games like crazy. After a while, an FAQ comes out, and its disjointed and in some places inaccurate, and people who need help or want information end up picking through a hellish newsgroup looking for emails of people who might give some advice. Well, if everyone (allthough everyone is impossible; i'd settle for considerably less...) would still play through the game and have fun (the most important thing), but be looking out for certain things as they rip into the game, then information would be more accurate, organized, and would be released quicker. What I propose is to hand out jobs to all who want to participate. (We would all contribute to a rather large strategy guide, rather than have some editor come along and throw together lots of scraps.) In this way, all the information could be researched, allowing for an orderly presentation of basic information. This would facilitate the search for secrets, special items, spells, MATERIA ORBS, etc... It's quite hard to describe the effect I project this would have, but I hope you get the picture. For a better expression of this idea, visit my page, the Final Fantasy VII FAQ page at http://www.flash.net/~zeromus . I am warning you, its still quite crappy, as I threw it together last Sunday night and its my first page ever (for some reason building a page never appealed to me until now). you can me at zeromus@flash.net if you have any questions. One of the more interesting feautures of my strategy guide is gaming-magazine type maps, with shrunken screenshots, which would be absolutely wonderful for dungeons etc. Check out my page for more information. This post is already to long, so I'll wind it down. Let me know what you think! --Zeromus This is one of the oldest threads I could find on my weekly look on this groups history (jk about weekly history thing) lol. ![]() |
