Q about Halo's sound

I'm a late comer to Halo (TOH) and I'm having trouble hearing the voices.
The voices are being dround out by the music and sound effects. Most games
have a setting to adjust the volumes of voices, music and special effects.
Does Halo have this option? Am I just missing it?
