ok I've worked out the prob. When you lift off push down on the stick till you see the horizon and hold the top of the panel on the horizon line, there will prob a early torque roll to catch which is not a problem. It feels as if you are flying level but watch the altimeter it is climbing quite rapidly. Go to Virtual cockpit and the nose is pointing quite high and you feel as if have to bring it down. Because of the centre column blocking view I was taking off on 1 seat raise which accentuated the sensation. So either take off using virtual cockpit or use 1 seat lower view to make it seem more like a tail dragger. This will give a more accurate representation on lift off and becomes easy peasy. Ah ha - the ole RTFM trick! (;->)) You're right, I just hopped in and took off after minimum inDOCtrination, doing an impression of a Dolphin until figuring out the trim was TOUCHY! I'll do as you suggest next time in it, the traditional click on the edge of the panel and drag it around didn't work, so figured I was stuck with a billboard. <G> Thanks for the feedback! I cannot believe my good fortune at being able to communicate with my bologna! **<VBG!> As I mentioned in a previous post, you can "slide the 2d panel down" to provide a better outside view, but I deliberately spent a LOT of time making the VC cockpit visually appealing, as well as functional. Note also that all of the various sub-panels may be displayed in VC mode by use of the Shift-x keys (where x is a number), in case you need a better view of instruments. As a challenge, I just completed a flight from KGYY to KATL - almost completly hands off! Not once did I touch the yoke until reaching DH on final, when I switched the AP off and hand flew the TB20GT to the numbers. For those using joysticks, try making a minor adjustment in the aircraft.cfg to these parameters: Cruise_lift_scalar=1.0 Parasite_drag_scalar=0.70 Induced_drag_scalar=1.0 Elevator_effectiveness=1.0 <= this is set to 100%, try lowering to 0.8 and adjust as needed for your comfort zone. Aileron_effectiveness=1 Rudder_effectiveness=1.0 Pitch_stability=3.0 Roll_stability=1.0 Yaw_stability=3.0 Elevator_trim_effectiveness=3.0 <= this is set to 300%, try lowering to 1.0 if you find the trim too quick Aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.0 Rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.0 Bill **Note for those readers who suffer from "commercial deprivation," the above jest is in reference to the commercial jingle that goes, "My bologna has a first name, it's O S C A R..." -- Fr. John Grabowski wrote: If you recall, I released the original with two selectable versions. I combined the two into one version in an attempt to better replicate the feel of the real a/c based on my own experiences, as well as feedback from a group of TB20GT owners who've embraced the model. It truly isn't "difficult to fly" as much as it is "different to fly." Without variety in a/c behavior and panels, we may as well just have one a/c. It's sort of like oatmeal; no matter how you "dress it up" with other stuff, it still *tastes* like oatmeal... ![]() In "Real Life," even consecutively built models of the same a/c from the factory have their own distinguishing characteristics and flying quirks. My best advice is this: use only your thumb and forefinger to lightly grasp the very top of the joystick (or the palm of your hands if using a yoke) to make very small and controlled inputs to the flight controls. Place your joystick in a position where your arm can be supported at all times. Keep in mind the principles of "leverage;" the shorter the moment arm, the smaller the input area. That is why "gripping the stick" is discouraged when using short, desktop yokes. You're effectively moving the moment arm to the *bottom* of the stick, and even the slightest movement will be correspondingly exaggerated. As a test to confirm the above, tape a yardstick (approximately 1 m for the metrically challenged!) to the stick, place it on the floor between your legs, and hold it in place with your feet. This will extend the moment arm by a factor of 500% and you will notice an immediate difference in the elevator/aileron sensitivity! There's avery good reason why stick-equipped a/c have 2' to 3' length, after all! Of course, for maximum realism, one should use a yoke, since this a/c uses one rather than a stick... Also, you simply *must* master proper trim control if you expect to fly this a/c... ![]() Bill -- Fr.
