Default Socata Radar Gauge?

I have installed Bill's Socata V2 for FS9 and all is o.k. exept for one
thing;
Around me there is plenty of traffic visible, but I don't see any traffic in
the Radar Gauge no matter what buttons I klick....! .
In the Options/settings menu traffic is at 35 percent.
Went back to FS2002 and V1 to have a look; all is ok there.
What tiny little button did I forget......

Thanks,
Hans

Default Socata Radar Gauge?

Just to give you a hint from "real life", without knowing how this Socata
Radar is programmed:
You will hardly see any traffic in an airborne radar because it's just not
made for it. The radar beam is very narrow (typical <1°) to allow you
scanning a cloud build-up for any "bad" things in it. So an A/C would just
give you an echo if it coincidencially happens to be within this narrow beam
sweep.
Another thing is the TCAS indications that are supplied to the radar screen.
But these indications are derived from your transponder/TCAS system. So if
there is TCAS indication available you should check whether your transponder
has anything referring to "traffic" or "TCAS".

I should have made mention of that in the documentation, but it honestly slipped
my mind...

No problem Bill (and also thanks to Steve for his reaction.) Thanks to all
the help in this group most of my "problems" and questions are solved.
Indeed fsuipc was not installed, but is is now! (version 3.04).
Still no traffic in the Radar Gauge, But I saw that you have to register
this version of fsuipc to get all the features.
I suspect I'll have to do that to get the Radar Gaude working , is that
right?
Please give me the final "clearance" gentleman and I will leave you in peace
(for the weekend. at least....)

Hi Bill,

Is slipping your mind as painful as slipping a disc?

Obviously the recovery happens a lot quicker!

Default Socata Radar Gauge?

Hans, have the same problem with the radar gauge you mentioned (assume it is
Eric Marciano's), FSUIPC 3.06 installed but not registered, and the result
is no traffic on the gauge. Does it require registration? I don't know, cant
see why because none of the FSUIPC parameters need to be set to get it to
work (at least that's how it was in FS2002).
However have another problem that made me delete FSUIPC.DLL again, with this
module and FSSOUND.DLL installed some of my 2D panels dropped the framerate
to 6fps from 15fps, uninstalling FSUIPC and FSSOUND re-instated the
framerate to 15fps.
Anybody else noted huge fps drops with these 2 modules loaded?

By the way this is all in FS9 on a Win2000 PC.

Oscar, Eric has no plans to make arrangements for "freeware registration" of his
Radar gauge to work with Pete's FSUIPC 3.06. The only option if you want to
have TCAS (the only reason *for* the gauge to begin with!), is to "purchase" the
fully registered version of FSUIPC.

Since Pete's program is SO useful (like a Swiss Army Knife!), I highly recommend
the purchase. In any event, I *had* to buy both FSUIPS and WideFS, since we run
FS9 on fourteen multi-monitor flightstations here and need to share all data
over the LAN.

Thanks Bill, for the FSUIPC info. Had a quick look at Eric's website but
could see no reference of the suitability of his gauge + FS9 + FSUIPC.
Anyway, you answered this one for me.
However my bigger problem is that framerate drop to 6fps from 15fps with
both fssound.dll and fsuipc.dll installed. This happens only in Cockpit
View, and only with some planes, other views stay at 15-20fps. Don't know
what is going on here, still try to work it out.

Regards, Oscar
