Default Computer Pilot magazine

Ever since I purchased MegaScenery from PC Aviator I have been swamped
with e-mails inviting me to subscribe to their magazine Computer Pilot.
Anyone have an opinion on the worth of this mag. At a cost of $40 USD
and about to go up to $50 USD it is a little pricey. I take several mags
(too many) Computer mags, RC Airplane mags, Golf mags, ect. So do you
think it's worth it???

Have you ever actually seen and read one of their magazines?
Perhaps you ask them to send you a sample copy or you may go to a
bookstore and inspect one.
Personally I think it is a fine magazine. But it seems to me that you
can decide this matter based on how much you are into computer flight
sim. Seems that you have other interests (eg computering, RC planes and
golfing) in addition to flight sim.

I have a subscription to Computer Pilot and will plan to renew. It is
published in Australia and calls itself "...the Magazine for Desktop Pilots
and Flight Sim Enthusiasts."

The current issue has a multiple page review of X-Plane 7 and a number of
reviews of FS2002 aircraft, Active Sky, and a number of military sims. They
have some good "real world" articles on things like multi-engine flying, and
real world ride-alongs, review of the Paris Airshow, etc.

Check their website for back issues and their content listings:

There are some dealers that stock Computer Pilot, so you can buy individual
copies and see if its worth subscribing. One of them is RC Simulations.

Bill,
I am subscribing to Computer Pilot. I like the magazine a lot, but you are
right, it is very pricey. The articles and news are interesting though. I
noticed that you can also buy it at my local Barnes & Noble bookstore. I
would suggest that you buy an issue locally and see if you like it.

Either go to their website http://www.computerpilot.com or go to a bookstore
and check it out for yourself, only you can know if it's worth the money to
you. Personally I wouldn't miss an issue, which is why I took out a
subscription and at $39 US for a years Canadian subscription ( about half
the news-stand price ), that is very good value. It works out to around
$3.30 an issue, how many magazines do you see on the news-stands for that
price these days?

Sounds like it is worth the money but the suggestion about Barnes and
Nobel is a good one. I'll be there today to buy a copy, thanks guys for
the comments.

My problem with this mag is that it covers all PC Flying sims - not just
FS2004. Hence , for me, it is full of stuff that I am not interested in. It
seems to me , that if you are connected to the Internet, the kind of info
you get in a printed mag is the same as the copious amounts of material
available on the WWW.

Don't know about anyone else but I like to read my Computer Pilot mag in the
bath, hard to surf the net from there.

I get your point Barry, but it's why the mag is called Computer Pilot rather
than a reference to MSFS.

Many of the articles using other sims apply to MSFS, such as how to fly
multi engine aircraft using FLY.

For me, it's a great magazine and whilst I don't subscribe, I pickup a copy
each month from the newsagents.
