| I am still getting strange texture behavior ... see http://www.geocities.com/tini_fisher/honolulu.jpg shows on almost all buildings, depending on your position ... note that the weird textures on the buildings in the background are also changing shapes when flying or slewing, the lines on the buildings are moving from right to left around like reflections in a mirror same happens to building lights when flying at night is that normal ? please say no ! settings : 1280 x 1024 (max for my tft), all details maxed in fs9, aa to app, aif 4x, nvidia 45.23 tia for any hints ! <<< Tina >>> PS: not too much vodka ! PPS: the extra honolulu scenery can be found at avsim ! -- I use my alternate email-adress here, so responses to email might take a while. :-) "Mr. Data, things are only impossible until they are not." Hey!! Like ya house too! Which one do you live in? The one with penthouse on the top floor with your own bar and swimming pool? Watch out for the silent "p" in swimming pool too! ;-) -- Graham McAllister fs@twd.com.au Tina Fisher <tini_fisher@hotmail.com> wrote in message news lf6mv0223fv4a4785eg4pkvgj0l7kt8uo@4ax.com... |

Before the Sun had fallen far from the moon out of the East there came a great "paul s" <nospam@nospam.forme.invalid> flying, and bore tidings beyond hope from the Lords of the West, crying: thanks to all for the moire hint, BUT : how do I fix that ? I tried everything, reducing mips removed the moirč effect but the screen looks terrible ... btw : http://www.geocities.com/tini_fisher/honolulu2.jpg shows my ocean at sunset ... <<< Tina >>> -- I use my alternate email-adress here, so responses to email might take a while. :-) "Mr. Data, things are only impossible until they are not." Tina Fisher wrote: If I tweek up the MIP >5 it gets bad on my Radeon 9800. Even shows just a bit sometimes on 5, but only on large distant building with the fine textured lines, and goes away when I get close. Call morie' effect, and seen quite a lot on monitors and TV when someone wears a certain coat or tie with a line or checked pattern... -- Cheers'n Beers [_]) Don |

Before the Sun had fallen far from the moon out of the East there came a great "Don Parker" <tazman@cox-internet.spam.com> flying, and bore tidings beyond hope from the Lords of the West, crying: do you see a degradation in image quality from 8 to 5 mip ? <<< Tina >>> -- I use my alternate email-adress here, so responses to email might take a while. :-) "Mr. Data, things are only impossible until they are not." ok, instead of asking so many questions, here is some comparison I made : http://www.geocities.com/tini_fisher/mip4.jpg (4 MIP, moire completely gone - trees still flicker however when moving ) http://www.geocities.com/tini_fisher/mip8.jpg (8 MIP, tons of moire patterns ...) note that with 5 MIP (no screenshot), the moire pattern is still there .... <<< Tina >>> -- I use my alternate email-adress here, so responses to email might take a while. :-) "Mr. Data, things are only impossible until they are not." Tina Fisher wrote: I really don't see a big difference in detail after ~6, but then the morie' starts getting bothersome and a little more glitter/shimmer, so I've settled on 5. Even then some big buildings get that swirl effect, but clears up the closer I get. I've noticed this to some degree on about every FS version I've had, and this can also vary somewhat with the particular brand monitor you have and the resolution you're using (I found 1600x1200 the best for me, on a 19" Sony CRT) - you may being seeing it better or worse than someone with similar settings, but different hardware (one of my sidelines over the years was repairing monitors). Until maybe ATI does some more tweeking (IF it's even their 'fault'), I'm just trying to ignore the little bit I have... (:->)) -- Cheers'n Beers [_]) Don |
