paste.) Perhaps the previous post on this has been read elsewhere..

Leaming is currently in the Lake Co. Indiana jail awaiting trial for check
conversation and then he is being sent back to Florida for parole violation
and two other charges in Flordia.

In the earlier posts (last week?) it mentioned that he is accused of paying
a rent check to the church into his personal account. I never heard of the
term "cheque conversion" before, but that must be what it is.

":Conversion" means converting something to usually one's own benefit.
Converting a motorcar as opposed to unlawful taking or theft of a motorcar
means someone has had legal use of the car but has converted it for his own
purpose. ie the boss allows you to take the truck home each night but you
use it during the evening without the boss's permission. In the case in
issue a cheque legally received could have been 'converted' and used for
private gain. I think this is common law and not just a local
interpretation.

I replied to Brother J :

It's an absolute shame - he is one of the most knowledgeable guys in
flightsim. And seems to be highly intelligent too. Anyway, "check
conversion" is not the worst crime the clergy has been accused of - so lets
be charitable and forgive this minor sin.
