MS Flight Sim 2004 randomly quits and minimizes itself

I have MS Flight Sim 2004 which randomly stops running and minimizes
itself at the bottom of my desktop. I can click on the minimized
icon, it becomes visible again in pause mode. I can hit "P" and it
resumes, only to start the whole thing over again in about a minute or
two. Any ideas what's going on?

Hmmmm sounds like something running in the background that is firing
off and trying to grab screen focus to me. When flight sim minimizes,
is there any other window open?

CTRL ALT +DEL and check in the list that appears to see what it is that
caused your fs9 to stop ....
Generally the top program in the list will be the one which has taken focus.
If it is NOT a program you NEED to be running with FS9 disable it ! If task
scheduler is at fault temporarily suspend/edit it.
I have a similar problem with a POPUP stopper that updates itself and i cant
find a config to stop it so i have either to put up with it or remove the
proggy.

Are you running ZoneAlarm? This will do it. I also find that sometimes when
an email comes in while I am on broadband, it will do the same thing. Very
annoying just when I am on a tricky final in a snowstorm on a short runway!

Try this, click on the menu: Options>Settings>General
Make sure that "Pause on Task Switch" is NOT checked

Thanks Terry. Sounds like the way to go. My problem is definitely
something running in the background, as I disabled the loading of
startup programs during boot and FS works fine.
