| Hi ! First of all, im a newbie in FS (by writing that im a newbie i mean that i can take-off, land and use ATC) and to this group so forgive me if this topic was here before. What i am planning right now, is a Fly-Around-The-World tour (yes, i do have a lot of free time). What I am looking for is some kind of a world map, using which i can plan my route (and fe. measure distances). The questions are: Is there a piece of software like that ? Is there a non-commercial (by which i mean "free") piece of software like that ? or Where to buy it (and how much can it cost) ? Thx for all your answers, Qrak PS. I know i have a map inside FS2004. But it is hard to plan a bigger route with it, and i am looking for an external software. |

Yes what you want is FSNav obtainable from the site below http://www.fsnavigator.com/download.htm You can download a demo which is restricted to 20 times use I believe, so you can decide whethet to buy it. As so many simmers class it as the most important addon, I am sure you will buy it as it is inexpensive anyhow. I believe every thirtieth download scores you a free copy, so you might be lucky! |

If you have plenty of time and some money to spend ($100) I suggest you look into MS Encarta Premium Suite - there are very detailed interactive maps of the whole world plus plenty of info on each country you want to visit. Also great educational tool for yourself and the kids (or grandkids as the case may be). I usually print out a detailed Encarta map of the area I'm flying to and it's accurate enough so I can follow the valleys and villages if you do VFR. Great geographic info tool, if combined with FS9. Hi Qrak, Also noticed an alternative (payware) program on the Flightsim home page this morning. You get to try it for free first, though. Regards, John "Qrak" <qrak@nospam.wp.pl> wrote in message news:c29tjt$7ts$1@news.onet.pl... have route |

Hi, I'm not trying to be a smart ass.. BUT,. I have found a GLOBE, and a piece of string to be usefull, a globe gives a new perspective to distances, because frequently on flat projection maps of large distances, the curve is hard to plot manually, but on a globe, you just take the string and do a rough measurement, then measure the marked off string with a ruler -- ********** shu "Qrak" <qrak@nospam.wp.pl> wrote in message news:c29tjt$7ts$1@news.onet.pl... have route |
