Is that the one by Kazunori Ito? If so, in the description of this FREE aircraft it clearly states "The panel is not included in this file". Ill-considered comments such as yours, Peter, have been a major factor in the decisions of several prominent FREEware designers decisions to either stop designing for FREE or leave the hobby completely. And your comment about MelJet is what my kids would refer to as a "cheap shot". Do you have any concept of the magnituide of the contribution Mel Rafi has made to this hobby? And, for FREE! Your annoyance level gets no sympathy from me. If you're that bothered by it all why not just avoid FREEware altogether. First of all I apologize to Peter, didn't mean to get out of line and if there was a way to edit my original post I would have right after I posted it. I just really get annoyed when I hear that kind of attitude towards freeware developers. Instead of posting a message complaining because the freeware developer didn't include a panel, it would have been nice to see a post that went something like this: "Hey guys, I just downloaded this really cool Electric Lightning from FSDome.com. Anyone know where I can get a panel for it?" Isn't that much better than: "What is it with FS9 and the up and coming designers" People need to realize that freeware developers spend 100's of hours on a lot of these addons so you can download them for free. Constructive criticism is fine, but need to be aware that too much pointless criticism has turned a lot of freeware developers away or turned them into payware developers. I learned very early on that people just like to complain. My experience has been that for every email I get from someone telling me they appreciate things I've uploaded, I get 1 or 2 from people with some stupid complaint. More often than not, the complaint has nothing to do with my design even. I'm sure any other freeware developer will tell you the same. BTW, my name is Matt Fox, just do a search at AVSIM and you'll see all the stuff I've contributed over the years, going back to 1999. Not to mention all the time I spend running the AFCAD Dept. at ProjectAI. Matt Fox <blave@nospam.com> wrote in message news:ropi40tufstp85rc39oo6uues6q0gpdnho@4ax.com... |

Welcome back Trip!! (I might have missed any previous post)?? In fact, I often thank particular designers or make sure they get credit through this forum as I'm sure it gets back to them. The work involved is horrendous and we carry on like spoilt kids if a patch is considered required!! Have to smile though. Trip left this group because of all the in-fighting and back he comes er... fighting?? Seriously the group went through a bad patch where vulgar insults were commonplace. In fact I now only do a cursory look through this NG these days.. more like a lurker. Hope to join in and contribute more shortly. I'm keeping that Meljet and hope to modify it (or pinch some of the views for a starter). :-) By the way,in this NG it's politically incorrect to flame a freeby designer. There is overpriced payware out there of a lower standard to sharpen your claws on if you must. Cheers Butts |

Hi Matt, No worries, mate. It happens, and we all move on , and something constructive usually comes out of it all! I'm off to Avsim later to have a look at your "stuff" - sounds really interesting. I promise not to email you! :-)) Regards, John "Matt" <somewhere@somewhere.com> wrote in message news:F_qdnZQ20sAPpNfdRVn2hg@giganews.com... a appreciate |

You know me Don - I always tell it the way I see it. Didn't mean to pick a fight but putting a knock on the freeware guys has always been a hot spot with me. I'm not actually "back", I'm just in-country for a month or so and then it's off to parts unknown again. It's good to hear that things have calmed down a bit. I'll be more tactful in the future :-) Trip ----------------------------------------- "donbutts" <donneybutts@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:g7r2c.4190$Nc3.66522@news.xtra.co.nz... and file". in either |

I think that comment was uncalled for. Especially since it was clearly stated that there was no panel included with the aircraft. And since it's free, the designer has given up enough of his time just designing the plane. It is quite possible that he was waiting for a reaction to the plane, before putting in time to design a cockpit. Well, with reactions like that, he would probably scrap that idea, and apply his skills somewhere else. If I am not happy with the panel that comes with a freeware aircraft, I search for the correct one, and 99% of the time I find it. Who's to complain when you are not paying?. Bob |

For those of you who read thids under 'DAD' here is the properly signed version I have already posted my apology to the group elswhere but I will repeat it here. Matt - your sentiments might be listened to if better expressed. The rest of you are more than right and I now feel the heel I probably would have called myself if I had bothered to think.# For the rest of the comments 'I am' learning to do aircraft - but I am totally non technical in the artistic and programming stage. I can build and install a computer but I couldn't draw one to save my cobblers. 3DMax and AFDS2 I am finding so complicated it is driving me round the bend but I will persevere. The SDK's - I have just downloaded a few and will be trying them out (but I bet I become a cropper before too long). I suppose I am getting so spoiled by the brilliant aeroplanes that it is possible to download that when one comes across one that does not live up to promise (especially if you have searched for moons to find an example) it is a shame. I must now learn how to manipulate the way a plane flys 'cos this lightning is not quite right (in my opinion)! Anyway - apologies once more and I will try to curb my criticsm until I know better. |
