This might be a silly question, and even one that is asked many times, but
.... can anybody shed some light on why my 2k2 programme "stutters" when ATC
talks? I dont really want to turn ATC down to 0%, as it would be very lonely
in the sky....

thanking you for your time .. Paul

Try running a defrag of the hard disk. The file containing the voices is
rather big, and it needs to be accessed fast when ATC is speaking, so it's
not good if it has to seek all over the hard disk.

Audio drivers might also be a problem.

In addition to Lars' recommendations, you also need to consider what
other Windows processes you have running in the background. Often
times, stuttering audio is indicative of an overburdened CPU. FS2002
places a heavy load on any PC's resources, and sometimes it does not
take but one more moderate process to "upset the apple cart."

What are your PC specs (CPU, RAM, graphics, etc)? What does your
Windows System Tray look like (bottom right of the task bar where the
clock is)? Are there many icons there? This suggests you have many
start-up applications running in the background.

How about your antivirus and firewall applications? What are they?

There is a free utility called EndItAll that will kill off all non-
essential background processes that works well in both the Win98 and
WinXP environment. Many here have this utility and run it prior to
launching FS200x. You can get it here:

I had the same exact problem...solved it with fresh audio drivers...
I also agree with Peter...you should see what you´ve got running in the
background...
