Balloons over Sao Paulo (slightly OT)

In real life last Monday, on final coming into the international airport at
Sao Paulo in a 767, flaps down, nose up ... about 5000 feet. Pilot hits the
gas, veers to the right and back left. Off our left wing comes by a brightly
colored balloon about 10 feet tall, with a string below it attached to a
small star balloon. Turns out this is a "fun" thing for people to do around
Sao Paulo. They build these out of paper, put an old paint can under them
full of rags and a little oil and "set 'em loose." The refineries around
the city have to have people ready to shoot these down should they float
over the refinery. I guess this is an interesting past time for our friends
in Brasil, perhaps a little too many of those lovely lime drinks with
pinga??? Mostly you see these home made balloons in July and August, but I
got to see the one last Monday a little closer than I liked. Should we
start putting random balloons into the ILS at Sao Paulo to keep it "as real
as it gets?" :-)
