| So last night my brother and I tried our first arena matches (2v2), it was humbling to say the least. I am playing a demo warlock and he is playing a MM hunter, noticibly lacking synergy. I even went as far as respecing to destr because he was more a cc than a dps toon. We went 2-7 for the night, and our 2 wins were a fluke. On the first win it was because there was only one person to fight, and the second win was a slaughter on people worse than us. Neither of us really have the gear since we just started , but he was a few things that he bought from doing BGs. 1) Is it even feasible to do well with a hunter and lock? If so what suggested builds? 2) where is a good place to start to collect PvP gear? I saved every drop and quest reward that resiliance on it and I still only had a 51 when I switched out gear. We want to try again, especially since being the "noob" there really sucked. |

I would do battlegrounds and the daily BG quest to get honor points (which are separate from arena points). You'll be able to buy several pieces of nice Vindicator gear rather quickly. Furthermore, even if your arena team stinks, you'll still get some arena points every week if you do ten matches. Even a lousy team should get 150-200 points per week, and the best S3 armor costs only 1875 points. Hang in there for the first few weeks while you gear up and things will get easier. Also, don't feel bad that you were 2-7, even getting two wins with no prior experience is something to be proud of. Arena is really quite different than world PVP and BGs and it takes some practice. |

I think any combination is doable (as in, with a bit of practice it shouldn't be a complete slaughter all the time but I do think you'llbenefit a lot from having a healer. Plus, a 3v3 team will get you more points. As for spec, I recently respecced my own warlock to SL/SL and it definitely helped (I was almost full affliction before that). I don't know much about hunters, but they have an ability I found very annoying on both my warlock and my rogue. It looks like the hunter becomes enraged and s/he becomes immune to both fear and stun. I'm sure someone inhere knows what build you need to take to get that. I see a lot of hunters in arenas with this spec, I assume it's the cookie cutter spec ATM. It sure seems to work quite well. As Brian C says, do a bit of BG's and you'll be able to buy some gear pretty quickly. There are some non-set epics (belt, boots, bracers, ring and necklace) named Vindicator's, and the Arena Season 1 gear is also available for honor points. You should see an improvement after getting some of these items. Devast8or |

This is the official description: When your pet is under the effects of Bestial Wrath, you also go into a rage causing 10% additional damage and reducing mana costs of all spells by 20% for 18 sec. While enraged, you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed. |

We're not exactly brialliant (less than 1500 at the moment, *cough*), but it's certainly feasible. I find it depends a lot on who you're up against and how they play. I think we won 7 out of 10 this weekend. If the lock can keep one of them feared while you both burn down the other then it's not so bad. If they're quick at countering the CC and keep you stun-locked (I hate rogues!) then it can be a pain. As a hunter I find it best to use Beastial Wrath fairly early, especially if up against someone that can fear (lock/priest/warrior). Keep viper sting up on casters. If you have another hunter's pet on you, try Scare Beast (a spell I never use in PvE, but it's come in handy a few times in the arena). If anyone has any other tips for BM hunters in arenas, I'd love to hear them! -- Zil, Level 70 NE Priest, Aman Shan're, Stormrage Europe |

The worst that it will do is make them go humanoid which means that they'll take more melee/ranged damage for a short while. steve.kaye |

well since then I have respec SL/SL,as it seems to be the gane winner. Its a big change from the Demo spec I am used to and the Destro that I have tried. My brother doesn't get the beastial wrath talent because he's mainly Marksman, but silencing shot works wonders on the healers. One of the matches we did win was because he SS the druid and I followed up with a death coil (druid messed up and trinketed out of the 3 sec fear) and I hit him with a normal fear. The problem I have is when I waste a day in AB (dbl honor weekend) and we lose 18 games in a row. Is alliance always like that in AB or was it just a bad day? |
